, but it characterizes the demand for climate information and indicates how new climate forecasts might be received. Based on ethnographic data, this paper describes traditional climate prediction methods of farmers in Tlaxcala, Mexico to illustrate the relevance
of local climate knowledge for seasonal forecasting.
Forecast of complex households development and composition in the Czech Republic until 2010
Czech Republic ; Demography ; Divorce ; Family ; Forecast ; Household ; Marriage rate ; Mortality ; Population
The forecast is based on three variants of further expected development of nuptiality, divorce as well as mortality, changing population composition according to family status. Of course, the discussion on the average complex households minimum
possible size remains open. The answer will result only from the forecast and composition which is being prepared for Prague, in all variants. - (MS)
Competitive learning experiences : the role of weather forecasting contests in geography programs
A pedagogic strategy at all educational levels in teaching about the atmosphere, weather and climate involves in-class contests on weather forecasting. - (DWG)
Geostatistiche Vorhersage mit Kleinrechnern und ihre Anwendung zur Profilkonstruktion (Computer aided geostatistical forecast and application in profile constructions)
The paper demonstrates the processes of a forecast method which is well known in geostatistics as kriging . The proposed method is based on the Markov process and it is recommended for computerised deposit modelling because of numeral advantages
A fog forecasting method in a deeply embanked valley
Belgium ; Fog ; Forecast;Prediction ; Meteorology ; Meuse ; Model ; Statistics ; Valley
This paper presents a statistical model used to forecast fog in the Meuse valley in Belgium. The method is a bootstrap discriminant analysis using eight predictors : river surface temperature, air pressure, air temperature at two elevations, wind
The application of a simple lumped river flow forecasting model to hillslope soil water storage estimation
A simple lumped sequential flow forecasting model is applied to a 0.73 km2 catchment, located at Winford near Bristol, and it is shown that if field permeability is available, there is significant potential for the scheme to estimate the mean soil
water storage in catchment segments. In addition, the model is shown to provide reliable river flow forecasting.
Methods of crop production forecasting in the EEC. Present and expected trends in crop production in Application of remote sensing to agricultural production forecasting.
Climate ; Forecast;Prediction ; Impact ; Technology ; Transport ; United Kingdom ; Weather type
An attempt is made to classify the impact of weather and climate upon air, rail, road and water transport by considering for each : climatic design and required levels of maintenance; weather sensitivity and thresholds; weather forecasting and new
A new approach to forecasting is introduced, based on the concept of process development, i.e. a functional geomorphological forecast which presents in essence a search and analysis of combinations of geographic situations and their evaluation
