The AA. report the results of glacial geomorphological mapping of the Strait of Magellan and Bahía Inútil. The aims are to determine the pattern and process of deglaciation during the last glacial-interglacial transition and to provide a firm
geomorphological basis for the interpretation of radiocarbon, cosmogenic isotope and amino acid dates for the timing of deglaciation. The mapping shows that it is possible to make a clear weathering and morphological distinction between last glaciation and older

of the time elapsed since deglaciation. All the forms, even those developing near the Little Ice Age moraines, are active. The AA. propose that the location, activity and size of patterned ground are more probably linked to drift characteristics and local
wetness conditions than to the time elapsed since deglaciation.
