Field evidence in the type locality Corsica revealed no trend of size variability from the coast to subalpine elevations and the aspect of tafoni seems to be governed primarily by the directions of local fault systems and cleavage, and only
Knowing that beachrocks are built at, or near, the sea level, we dated (C) old submerged beachrocks in South Corsica in order to investigate possible recent tectonic movements in the region. All the sites show a good correlation between the present
depth of old beachrocks and the stands of the Mediterranean sea-level at the corresponding ages. This indicated that the axis of the Corsica-Sardinia block remained stable during at least the last 30, 000 years. As some recent subsidences are locally
reported on the margins of both islands it would be interesting to extend this type of studies to the rest of the Corsica-Sardinia block.

is by no means a linguistic study but it is intended to be a cartographical analysis. The study has been carried out in a number of contact-zones such as Belgium, Wales, Scotland, South Tirol, Carinthia, Lausatia, Vallée d'Aosta and Corsica. (AGD).
