The AA. present results from idealized regional climate model (RCM) experiments forced with both positive and negative SST anomalies in the southern Atlantic Ocean. They reveal an unexpected response of rainfall over southern Africa. In particular
concludes that the results of idealized regional climate models forced with SST anomalies should be viewed cautiously.

This paper reviews the current state of knowledge pertaining to the interactions of lake ice and climate. Lake ice has been shown to be sensitive to climate variability through observations and modelling, and both long-term and short-term trends
have been identified from ice records. The inclusion of lakes and lake ice in climate modelling is an area of increased attention in recent studies. An important step in improving predictions of ice conditions in models is the assimilation of remote
sensing data in areas where in-situ data is lacking, or non-representative of the lake conditions. The ability to accurately represent ice cover on lakes will be an important step in the improvement of global circulation models, regional climate models

This study investigates the nature and strength of the climate signals that characterize an alpine dwarf-shrub, Cassiope mertensiana (mountain bell heather). The AA. present 6 new C. mertensiana chronologies (2 growth, 2 reproduction, 1963-2004; δ13
C, δ18 O, 1975-2005) based on Mount Rainier, Washington, USA. Correlation, factor, and multivariate regression analyses revealed that multiple and different climate factors control the chronologies.

The article deals with the climate protection, the climate protection management, the sustainability management, the energy efficiency, the renewable energy, the modernization of the administration and local protagonist networks. The paper discusses
the frame of action as well as the approaches of a local climate protection management, which refers to the well implemented concept of local sustainability management (with case studies of Darmstadt, Eisenach, and Rheinberg). - (IfL)
The article describes the notable development of the climatology sciences and the paper gives examples and references for German climatology. The climate change demanded new working direction and develop new climate models and scenarios. - (IfL)
revealed the characteristics of climate change and abrupt change points of precipitation and temperature during different time scales in the Ili River Basin within the past 50 years. The results of the study can be used as the climate change model

to investigate the relationship between climate and soil character across the contiguous United States. Data from 10,661 sample points were analyzed using geographically weighted regression (GWR) models to describe the geography of the relationship between
A-horizon soil properties and climate. In addition, macroscale soil property surfaces were interpolated from measured point samples visually to assess the validity of the zonal soil concepts. Results suggest many interesting relationships between climate
L'analyse des relations cernes-climat en Kroumirie met en évidence l'influence très marquée des précipitations, notamment printanières, sur l'épaisseur des cernes. Les réactions du chêne-liège au climat sont modulées par la continentalité et par les
