An overall review of the dutch coastal dune area has been given. In spite of the fact that this area, in geomorphological as well as in ecological respect, is one of the best preserved landscapes of the Netherlands many changes have occurred since
1850. Some of the changes have natural causes, most changes were induced by man. Maps on a scale 1:100.000 indicate the present ecological, geomorphological, hydrological and vegetational situation as well the changes in the period 1850-1970. (ALS).
