- The main aim of this paper is analysis of regional differences in agricultural land afforestation in Poland by voivodeship in the years 2000-2006. The article presents intensity and dynamics of this process. The factors contributing to the changes
- are largely identified as socio-economic. There was also a correlation analysis performed to determine the role of protected areas in distribution of afforestations. The special significance of afforestation lies in the fact that it sustains and reinforces
- Effects of afforestation on soil organic carbon and other soil properties
- Afforestation ; Erosion control ; Land use ; Organic materials ; Semi-arid area ; Soil ; Soil properties ; Turkey ; Watershed
- This study was conducted in May 2012 in Cedar and Black Pine afforestation sites planted in 1998, on degraded land located within the Nigde Akkaya dam watershed to form a greenbelt and combat erosion. Generally, soil organic carbon was observed
- to increase after afforestation. These values were significantly higher than the values for the bare land soils. Afforestation efforts led to an increase in water holding capacity (WHC) of the soil. Total porosity (TP) of the 0–10 cm layer soils increased also
- after afforestation. This study indicated that on degraded land in a semiarid region, afforestation increased soil carbon sequestration, improved some soil properties and reduced erosion over a 15-year period.
- The efficiency of large-scale afforestation with fish-scale pits for revegetation and soil erosion control in the steppe zone on the hill-gully Loess Plateau

- In this study, tree survival and growth, vegetation recovery and differences in soil erosion between afforestation with FSP slopes (AFS) and natural restoration slopes (NRS) were analyzed, and the suitability of afforestation with FSPs in the steppe
- zone of the Loess hilly–gully region was assessed by field survey. the study sites were 2 watersheds located in the Yan River Basin of Ansai County, North Shaanxi Province. All 3 tree species afforested using FSPs exhibited a small-aged tree trend due
- to the poor growth conditions. The coverage of herb and litter in the AFS were lower. The rill erosion caused by FSPs was higher than the sediment deposition in FSPs. Therefore, the AA. conclude that afforestation with FSPs is not effective in controlling soil
- erosion and improving vegetation recovery. Large-scale afforestation with FSPs is unsuitable in the steppe zone on the hilly-gully Loess Plateau.

- Medium-term effects of afforestation on sediment dynamics in a water supply catchment : a mineral magnetic interpretation of reservoir deposits in the Macclesfield Forest, N. W. England
- Mineral magnetic measurements indicate an increase in the supply of subsoil type sediments to Trentabank reservoir associated with a phase of gully development and slope instability beginning 15 to 20 years after afforestation of the Coombs Brook

- The analysis was made by commune. Also presented are possibilities of afforestation of former agricultural land and benefits to be derived from this measure in the future. The results revealed some general tendencies in the afforestation of former
- farmland in Poland. Attention was focused on the dynamics, disproportions and tendencies in the afforestation of private agricultural land, which depends on the level of financial support, but too often many woodland owners have no knowledge of the various

- and afforestation time on soil carbon sequestration and physicochemical characteristics. It is highlighted that the effects of afforestation varied with plant species and afforestation time. Soil carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus depletion rates were higher

- distribution along the soil profile following the afforestation of cropland on the loess Plateau. The study area is located in the Ziwuling area of Fuxian County in the Shaanxi province. It is shown that SOC pool increased in both plow layer and subsoil during
- afforestation and that afforestation redistributed SIC along soil depth without affecting SIC pool.
