Description :
Consideration of the 14,250 km2 of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Piedmont at six different periods of time from the Permian to the Holocene demonstrates that at least three cycles of tectonism/erosion have affected the Piedmont landscape. Each tectonic episode appears to have resulted in a distinctive landscape.
