This paper examines the impact of sequential flows of various magnitudes on the morphology of a low-energy river in northeastern Illinois. Between June 1986 and November 1988, the measurement programme has thus far bracketed extreme as well as moderate events and the data elucidate the short-term fluvial dynamics of the low-energy meandering Des Plaines river.
