El Nino may effect growth behaviour of amazonian trees

The interannual variation of climate in Amazonia is larger than generally believed. El Nino events, 1982/83, affected annual plants and raises the question, whether the cambial activity and the growth rate of Amazonian trees may be influenced by El Nino events.
