A diversity of the national housing finance system exists. There have been deliberate attempts at achieving harmonisation with Sweden, so it is possible to talk of the Scandinavian model . In fact, the Finnish system has supported the growth of home-ownership to about to-thirds of its population, and it bears similarities to a number of non-Scandinavian countries.
