River adjustment to changes in sediment load : the effects of tin mining on the Ringarooma River, Tasmania, 1875-1984

Auteur :
KNIGHTON, A. D.

Description :
This paper is concerned with the impact of hydraulic tin mining on the Ringarooma River. It has two main aims : 1) to establish the transport history of the introduced debris over more than a century| and 2) to analyse the response of the river to a sediment input which was particularly variable in time and space. Although mining has now virtually ceased, it will continue to have an impact on the physical landscape well into the twenty-first century.
