Historical geography and the cartographic illusion

Auteur :
HARLEY, J. B.

Description :
This essay proposes that we treat such maps as a text rather than as a mirror of reality, so that we can understand how their rhetoric has narrowed the practice of historical geography. Such a deconstruction opens the way to reintegrate cartography more fully as part of a humanistic historical geography.
