A new look at the luminist landscapes of F. E. Church

Auteur :
BUNKSE, E. V.

Description :
A leading protagonist of the Hudson River school of landscape painting, Frederick Church was one of the first major American artists to travel to other lands. This article assesses his observations made in Latin America, particularly Ecuador, in 1853 and 1857. Not only was that magnificent scenery a subject of his art, but those journeys inspires in him a new vision of nature. - (DWG)
