Description :
The late Wisconsin and early Holocene vegetation is discussed after a brief overview of the modern vegetation. Three site-specific midden records receive detailed study : two lie at 930-940 m elevation and currently support thermophilous desertscrub (Point of Rocks-3 and Skeleton Hills-2)| the third site, Eleona Range-2 (1810 m elevation), is near the present lower limit of pigmy conifer woodland.
