Middle Holocene drought on the southern High Plains

This paper presents evidence from the Southern High Plains for climatic warming and reduced effective precipitation in the middle Holocene, the Altithermal, as classically envisioned climatically and chronologically. The interpretations in this paper are based primarily on more recent geomorphic and stratigraphic data from a number of dated localities throughout the region, with a variety of supporting evidence from paleontology and archaeology.
