The thesis consists of three main chapters in chronological order. Especially chapter II focuses on the economic and social situation and tendencies during the shaping of the grand-Duchy of Baden (1806-1914). Chapter III focuses on the creation of the railway system in Nordostbaden (1862-1914). It also discusses the question of how the government used the railway-system to reduce the outstanding lock of economic development. Chapter V deals with facts and tendencies in agriculture and trade/industry in Nordostbaden (1862-1914).
