Description :
The main objective of the construction of the dam is the safe water supply for Maputo. As part of this project the water quality of the reservoir has been examined partly by a synoptic water quality study in March 1991, partly by studying data from the seventies and eighties in the Umbeluzi River basin. The study is focused on the questions of salinization, eutrophication and pesticide and heavy metal pollution.
