Effectiveness of single-row shelterbelts in contour land management

Parallel contour management of land with 11-year-old single-row shelterbelts spaced at intervals of 70 m is shown to considerably reduce erosion and deflation over a 12-year study period. A leaching soil water regime forms on reclaimed plowland with intensive agricultural use.―(L'Ed.).
