Persistence of historic flood impact on a small sand-bed stream - Wellums Creek, New South Wales, Australia

Holocene Geomorphology

Description :
This study demonstrates that historic flood-induced channel changes have not only occurred on major trunk rivers but in small tributary catchments as well. Another major focus is to address the relevance of not only external controls such as alternating hydrologic regimes and human impact, but also the effects and importance of internal geomorphic thresholds. The opinion hereby supported is to aim at a more integrative approach of all necessary parameters of the fluvial system in order to fully appreciate the geomorphic change experienced in sand-bed streams of coastal New South Wales.
