Description :
Related to surface runoff and erosion this paper aims to give an overview over different mathematical models used in geomorphological modelling over the last 30 years. As examples the models SLOP 3D, EROSION 2D/3D and RillGrow are presented. While early models aimed to represent longterm landform changes, recent models are focused on a more detailed, event-based process representation. Thus, the mathematical approaches used by these models differ fundamentally. Selected applications give an impression of possibilities and limitations associated with the presented models.
