Description :
The between floodbanks area of the Vistula (Pilica-Narew section) is an unique natural system as a consequence of limited degree to which the river can be transformed by hydrotechnical work, distinguished by very rare natural habitats (with characteristic fluvial processes) and biotopes with many specific species of plants and animals, so the optimal form of protection for this section should be regarded as essential. Detailed studies were carried out to indicate the optimal ways in which to manage the valley from natural and anthropogenic point of view. The investigations in this section concern flora and vegetation, fish, bird, mammal and invertebrate faunas as well as soil processes. The results of work allow to formulate recomendations for protect nature : to conserve biological diversity, to preserve the specific landscape, to protect species of plants and animals. - (BJ)
