Lookin' for Margaritaville : place and imagination in Jimmy Buffett's songs

In 1977, Jimmy Buffett, a singer-songwriter, released a song entitled Margaritaville. A. uses the imaginary Margaritaville and Buffett's lyrics and tunes in general to explore the role of music in the production and consumption of images of place. Discussion includes results of a survey of an Internet users group dedicaced to all aspects of Jimmy Buffett and his music ; the Parrot Heads were asked to describe Margaritaville and give its map location. Athough Key West was the most common response to the latter question, most respondents did not answer it. - (SLD)
