Description :
A geomorphologic division of the land surface is given, based on a combination of remote sensing and field work. The research area in the southern Sudanian zone is characterized by intense land use. The high land capability is caused by an extreme increase of population. In connection with the problem of overpopulated landscapes, different forms of soil degradation (gully, rill and sheet erosion) can be detected. Without measures of land conservation the soil resources will be reduced even further. - (HPB)
