The German-Polish frontier and the border region on the Oder and Neisse rivers

Germany ten years after reunification

Auteurs :

Description :
When the border between Germany and Poland was opened in 1989, this led to an enormous increase in road traffic, to small-scale business taking advantage of the discrepancy in purchasing power on both sides of the border, to increased cultural and social contacts as well as to joint German-Polish activities for improving the environment. The article deals with the border crossing euroregions and the neighbouring and divided cities along the border as focusing points of German-Polish neighbourhood. - (HPB)
