Description :
For two and one-half years, the AA. carried out a project on urban climate and air pollution in Mendoza, Argentina. They installed seven meteorological stations, monitored eight passive air pollution detectors SIGMA-2, conducted vertical soundings with tethered balloons, and drove two cross-city transects. The objective was to assess the urban heat island, local wind systems, and air pollution caused by suspended particulates. The AA. call for more active air pollution control in the city. - (SLD)
