Event-induced changes in landsurface condition - implications for subsequent slope stability

Magnitude and frequency in geomorphology

Description :
The landsurface condition of a small catchment in the east coast hill country of New Zealand's North Island has been mapped over a 23 year period. On this basis, the distribution of susceptibility to landsliding has been modelled, and shown to change. It is concluded that the relation of erosional response to rainfall input is not stable over time and that thresholds are unstable.
