To Mount Chimborazo in the steps of Alexander von Humboldt

Review of why a bronze plaque in honor of Alexander von Humboldt was affixed to the north wall of the stone pyramid for Simón Bolívar on the Andean mountain Chimborazo. There von Humboldt developed his ideas on the altitudinal arrangements of natural and human life and their ordely change in elevation with latitude. Article includes the trilingual text (English, Spanish, Quechua) of the plaque. Plaque ceremony was concluding highlight of the III International symposium on sustainable mountain development. - (SLD)
