Description :
It is shown how low resolution imagery, from the AVHRR sensor inboard the NOAA satellites, can be used to access information on bush fire at three levels : continental, regional and local. For management purposes, this type of imagery provides the requested information on temporal and spatial patterns of fire distribution. Characterization of critical regions and time of the year can help in the definition of priorities.
