She hath done what she could : community, citizenship, and place among women in late nineteenth-century Colorado

Gender and the City

Auteur :
COPE, M.

Description :
Goal is to re-interpret the experiences of women of the American West by considering the ways that place and personal situations fostered diverse experiences. Using diaries written by five white women in Colorado between 1869-1900, the author portrays these first-wave feminists as citizens in the sense that they contributed to the survival of their families and to the economic well-being of their communities. - (SLD)
