Gender and politics of scale : the Christian Right, sex education, and community in Vista, California, 1990-1994
Gender and the City
Auteur :MATTINGLY, D.J.
Description :
Vista has been the site of a heated struggle over who would control public education - the Christian Right or so-called secular humanists. The Christian Right gained control of the school board from 1992 to 1994 by stressing the moral authority of local, place-based communities. Nevertheless, the Christian Right is a community of interest (about 15% of all Americans) using identity politics to force their values on others. - (SLD)
