Description :
During the Holocene were identified episodes with higher frequency of extreme events like heavy downpours, continuous rains, rainy phases, rapid decades. All of them are reflected in sedimentary sequences, in relief and biotic changes. The A. describes more in detail the effects of climatic conditions during the Little Ice Age and 20-th century, what helps to identify similar episodes during the whole Holocene. Their common feature is the clustering of extreme events connected mainly with cooler and wetter phases as well as with frequent volcanic eruptions. - (DG)
