The learning of map skills is the subject of this study. Most important in this study is the question wether the degree of freedom of choice the pupil has in the course of his training, influences the learning of map skills. The ultimate aim of the study is to decide on the way in which map skills should be taught in order to enable as many first year pupils (of secondary schools) as possible to master these skills. - (AGD)
