Description :
The objective of this study is to establish the climatological classification of Vietnam, based on the structure of heat and water balances. Data from 85 meteorological stations, for the period 1960-1975 were taken into account for determining mean monthly values of main fluxes of energy and moisture. Various empirical formulae were used for this purpose. The ratio P/Ep (atmospheric precipitation / potential evaporation) is the main criterion in our classification, altogether nine types of climate have been distinguished over Vietnam's territory. The conclusion suggests that the climate of certain regions of Vietnam seems to be more arid than it has been hitherto supposed. - (DG)
