Description :
Previously a small village, Komló was declared a town in 1951. The town centre was built on Miocene sequence of sands, clays and clay marls. Before the developments the most typical landforms were landslide tongues, gullies and small alluvial fans on the flanks of the Kaszárnya valley, which cuts through the town. New housing areas were established in stages on interstream ridges of moderate landslide hazard and, to a lessser extent, on their slopes of strong landslide hazard. Urban development resulted in the following changes of geomorphic processes. Subsidiary investments accompanying urban development reduced landslide hazard.
