Suspended load is an important component of sediment transport in the surf zone. This study investigates the relationships between causative wave and current dynamics and resultant characteristics and distributions of suspended sediment in the surf zone. Data of hydraulic and morphologic variations and sediment samples were directly collected for a range of conditions in the field and then analyzed quantitatively to detect significant patterns or interrelationships amongst variables.
