Description :
In the course of the EFEDA-Project (European Field Experiment in Desertification-threatened Areas) of the European Union, carried out by more than 30 scientific teams, the question was raised as to the role of vegetation in land surface processes including the impact of people with regard to land degradation and desertification. As a first documentation on the recent land use and characteristics in agricultural dynamics this paper reports on the different appearance and the mapping of land use in 3 pilot zones within La Mancha region of Central Spain.
