Germanic towns in southern Brazil: ethnicity and change

Description :
Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul have many settlements founded by Germans, some of which have now grown into cities due to the entrepreneurship of immigrants and their descendants. Acculturation to the Brazilian melting pot has been strong, but not complete for certain European values survive. Main towns discussed are Novo Hamburgo, Gramado, Panambi, Blumenau and Pomerode. - (DWG)
