Urbanization and depopulation in the Alps (with three colored maps)

Description :
Based on a demographic study between 1870 and 1990 of the 6,000 communes in Alpine Europe (Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and France). Two divergent processes have occurred in that period: one-half of Alpine Europe is undergoing economic and demographic growth, whereas the other half has declined in economy and population. Tourism, not peasant agriculture, is the main economic support, but it is unevenly distributed. - (DWG)
