Description :
Considerations about glacier drainage systems are examined. Special attention is given to problems of water movement and drainage systems forming in cold glaciers. There are some limitations for channel forming in cold glaciers: ice temperature and the size of fractures. In structure, glacial drainage systems are similar to karst systems, but have some differences from them, which are determined first of all by glacier movement. They are: channel closing under lateral pressure and adaptation of en- and subglacial systems to new stress and fracturing conditions in a moving glacier.
