Description :
The investigations on the Holocene river activities and slope dynamics in the Black Forest and Upper Rhine Lowlands were carried out with geomorphological mehods. They include the analysis of sediments, the radiocarbon dating of organic material, the determination and dating of archaeological findings in the sediments, the evaluation and interpretation of historical records, maps and aerial photographs, and finally the actual measurements of the channel flow. The results only consider the influences of changes on the river development, which were induced by man and/or climate since Neolithic ages.
