Single particle bed load transport: first results from new approaches

Description :
Using telemetric techniques it is possible not only to monitor the movement of individual particles but also to determine the forces involved. The radio tracer technique was developed for use in the laboratory and under extreme natural conditions in an untamed mountain torrent. These results may be used to formulate a probability model describing the movement of single coarse particles on the river bed. The individual step lengths are best described by a two-parameter gamma distribution and the rest periods by an exponential function.
