Influence of initial moisture and time since tillage on surface structure breakdown and erosion of a loessial soil

Soil surface sealing and crusting

Description :
Antecedent soil moisture (ASM) has a high variability during the year. Its influence on the structural breakdown of the soil surface and on the erosion process was examined with simulated rainfall on a loessial soil at seebed stage. The objective is to quantify the influence of ASM itself without intercorrelations to sealing or roughness. The erosion process is studied as a whole to clarify the relative importance of the acting principles.
