The geomorphological impacts of limestone quarrying

Karst Terrains. Environmental changes and human impact

Auteurs :
GUNN, J.
WILLIAMS, P.W.

Description :
This paper explains why limestone is such an important commodity, examines the technique by which it is excavated, the geomorphological impacts of those techniques, and describes how such impacts may be minimised. It is based largely on research in Britain. Quarrying may also impact on karst water resources, particularly where excavation takes place beneath the water table, but these impacts tend to be site specific whilst te geomorphological impacts are more general.
