Information services in the Dominican Republic

Auteur :
WARF, B.

Description :
Although economically impoverished, the Dominican Republic nevertheless has a well-endowed infrastructure of information services: 3000 satellite earth stations, 261 radio stations, six national television channels and six cable television firms. Computer services are well developed. D.R. has also seen expansion of back offices, that perform routine clerical tasks for international enterprises. Clearly, no generalizations can be extended from this case to the broader Third World context! - (DWG)
