Perceptions and attitudes to privatisation. Evidence from the public opinion polls

Auteurs :

Description :
This paper describes how the opinions of privatisation in Poland have evolved in the early years of transition following the euphoria which accompanied the election of the Solidarity government in 1989. Having charted how these opinions regarding the privatisation process differ by socio-economic and demographic status, it is argued that a sustained period of political stability accompanied by tangible economic growth is necessary in order to regain the support of those who have been adversely affected by the programme as it has operated to date. - (DG)
