Late Weichselian deglaciation of Denmark: some general problems

Last ice sheet dynamics and deglaciation in the North European Plain

Auteurs :

Description :
This paper concentrates on the Late Weichselian deglaciation rates and the different mechanisms that might have caused the rather rapid wastage of the Danish sector of the ice sheet. The analysis is carried out using the improved possibility of obtaining numeric 3D-reconstructions on the surface form of former ice sheets, given their former margins and the physical character of the substratum. Also results obtained from insolation calculations as well as empirical knowledge on ablation rates from modern glacier surfaces obtained from mass balance measurements proper will be used in the analysis below.
