Operational image mosaicking - an integral component of future satellite ground processing systems

Description :
In order to meet the needs of large area applications such as environment and global change monitoring, satellite image mosaicking must be an integral component of future ground processing systems. The conditions necessary for the development of an operational mosaicking capability are reviewed and shown to be met by current image processing technology. A scenario for the production of Canada-wide mosaics from LANDSAT and RADARSAT imagery is presented. - (TH)
