Description :
In 1990-1991, five Scots pine forest stands of IV-VI age classes belonging to the Vaccinium, Myrtillus, and Cladonia forest-site type were observed along the atmospheric pollution deposition gradient in Estonia. In 1992, two new sites were added for future study. Increment cores were taken to determine stand age and synchrony of the growth curves. In 1990, 10 randomly chosen Scots pine canopies were observed for general health evaluation at each site. In June 1991, needle samples were collected from five trees at each site. The impact of air pollution on the anatomical structure od Scots pine needles was studied in 1992. - (L'A.).
