Evolution and differentiation of the physico-geographical environment of the Qinghai-Xizang (Tibetan) Plateau

Description :
The intense uplift of the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau gives rise to drastic changes of natural environment and distinct differentiation of the Plateau proper. This paper focuses on the evolution of subtropical environment at low altitude to frigid environment at high altitude of the region since Pliocene and the changes effected by cold-warm amplitude of global change. A number of striking geo-ecological phenomena such as moisture corridor, dry valleys and high cold-area are investigated and discussed.
