Description :
Geomorphological studies on the Quaternary landscape development in lesser known areas of eastern Zaire (Kivu) proved by geochemical and sedimentological evidence showed that the recent rain forest areas within so called core-areas were presumably strongly degraded during the Pleistocene. Two climatic phases probably consisting of a semi-humid to semi-arid vegetation were dated up to 18 000 y.B.P. and to 2000 y. B.P.
